It took a while, but I’m finally rooting myself in the field of brain-computer interfaces (BCI). I finally see myself positioned in the goldilocks moment of time (and space — who isn’t in San Francisco) to invest in BCI so I may be an industry leader in the future.

Why?

Terms from the Neural Engineering Course in 2018 Carl took from UW are starting to feel familiar. I’ve been taking deep dives in helping AI understand natural input by function calling with Gemini’s MultiModal Live API.

Just yesterday I managed to use my voice to navigate the web.

Meta recently announced their Brain-to-Text model by using inner-speech, or how I like to call them: the voices in your head. I am optimistic that with a little reverse-engineering, and a little dance of reading their paper again & again of course, I will find myself at the initial maxima of the dunning-krugger effect. Just like how I did when I read that Ed-Sheeran-inspired paper actually filled with scrumptious datasets (thanks Prof. Watson).

To 2022 Carl, you’d love the view from up here. You’re surrounded by people who love you and unsolicitedly provide you information about Microsoft’s Omniparser 2 and Claude MCP so you can maestro your LLMs.

I would love to have a conversation with you. You move fast and you don’t look back — and I know you know this but I want to let you know…

Life truly gets better.
